Anyone got some suggestions on an amplifier to power four Type-R 10" dual 2-ohm subs? (SWR-1021d) Preferably something that's not going to cost me an arm and a leg, as I'm not exactly wealthy...

Not trying to sound like an *******, but if you want subs that will require power to reach their potential (2000w+) you're going to need a good amp. Don't buy what you can't power because it's just a waste, imo.

But anyways, you can run those subs at 1 or 4 ohm. If you're wanting to go cheap I'd look into a Orion 2500d used. I think my buddy might be selling his soon. You could also look into a Kicker 2500.1 but you have to be somewhat careful with it on 1 ohm daily.

No offense taken. I totally understand where you're coming from. I didn't buy these subs, they were given to me (yeah, I know, I lucked out). Unfortunately, the amp given to me with them was an Alpine MRD-M501, which obviously isn't going to power them worth a ****. So I'm looking for a good, yet fairly inexpensive amp to push them.

yea i got 3600 goin to my 4 12"s and they seem like they could take a lil more

I have a pair of american bass cx100.1s that would be a GOOD freakin match, you would get roughly 600-700rms PER sub out of these amps. I am selling the pair for 450$ shipped these amps rank in the top 5 on amps, better then hifonics by far if your interested let me know.
