this amp with this sub? problems?

in parallel (to go from 2 ohms to 0.5 i think? ), would it work with this amp?

or would it cause problems since the sub is down to 0.5 ohms and the amp goes to 1 ohm (sorry i am just trying to learn all of this electrical stuff) any help is appreciated, thanks.

dont wire to .5 ohms... i doubt the amp can handle it do 2 ophms

For starters - a Dual 2 Ohm sub with the coils wired in parallel will yield a 1 Ohm nominal load. That amp is rated for 1kW @ 1 Ohm. I have no personal experience with HiFonics' gear but I see it frequently posted that they are somewhat overrated - cannot say for certain if this is true as it is simply something I frequently see rather than something I know to be fact.

Be conservative with the gains (set them according to the method outlined in the Gain Setting Tutorial) and you should be okay.

I dont know much about Hifonics either, so could you suggest some alternative amps that can get the job done for around the same price? thanks
