So i love my XXX, its amazing, but I want to try a new box/boxes. So far I've had 2 boxes, the website RE recommended 2.2ft^3 @ 34hz, and ~2.7@33hz. The 34hz box sounds amazing 35-45hz but is really 1 note wonderish with a steep roll off in upper range, and has port noise with 35" port area. The 33hz box sounds great through the spectrum but lows don't hit with authority, they are audible for sure but do not shake the car at the same time as much. So I have 2 new deisgns I want to try....here they are

I'm more leaning for SPL with a higher tuned box, obviously. Which looks good? I heard that 2.5@32hz is suppsoed to be recommended.

I'd love to try aeros but have no idea how to calculate it:*******:

Its going in a trunk car btw.

Thanks:)

I would try a side firing port. I've made box's with big L ports and never was pleased with them.

You can pretty much ask any pro box builder here and they will probably agree with me in saying that A straight port is much better then a L port. I've made (2) box's with a long straight port and they got really loud and sounded really good.

Sub gets mounted on the "Box Right Plate" Closet to the port exit...

2.7 @ 38hz with 58sq.in. of port area. This design also has more port area then the above (2) that you posted which will help with it getting louder which is what you requested. With a big straight port there is hrdly ever any port noise.

38hz tuning really isnt that bad either I actaully like it in single sub setups.

Just remember to leave enough space between the port and the wall that its up against to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I like that idea! didn't even think about side firing. I actually love straight ports much more, I was also thinking dual slot ports without L's.

I'm going to use that design, but changing the port to 3.5" for 2 reasons. Tuning at 40hz is going to piss me off(after sub displacement) having no lows, and my sub won't fit in that box without a double baffle: I'm already hard on space. 3.5" with 50"sq. port area and 17"d x 30"wide.

If any other suggestions, please say:fro:

Yeah, I'm just kidding, I just don't like the sound of sealed in the car that much. Had 2 13w6's and traded to go for 1 ported XXX:yumyum:

Side firing slot port....or 2 4"x19" side flared ports? Any difference?
