thinking of getting a hybrid...

i don't see how someone could drive one of these if it wasn't a manual......not enough power:crap:
the manual makes it more fun:D
Agreed. If the Versa wasn't available with the CVT, I wouldn't have even thought about an automatic.

how is the mileage on the versa....my sis and I drove from charleston sc to lexington ky on 10 gal
We get anywhere from 24-26mpg in town. That's mostly rush-hour, constant stop and go, back and forth to work everyday.

Haven't taken it on a long enough road trip to necessitate burning a full tank of gas at those speeds, but with mixed driving (about 40% city and 60% highway), we get around 29-31mpg.

HELL of a lot better than my '03 VR6 ever did (between 18-25mpg on average every fill up no matter what mix of cty/hwy).

Charleston to Lexington... that's about 540 miles. You got 54mpg in the Fit? It's rated to get an average of 34mpg on the highway.

haha that just made my day
hybrids ****.. but im only saying that because im ignorant and dont know much abuot them and have only seen the little ugly cars like the echo.
Hybrids, imo, are a joke. Total cost of ownership over time is ridiculous. Diesel is the way to go, imo. And I read a rumor that Nissan may be offering the 1.6L diesel Versa for the '09 model year. Of course, I find this out AFTER I buy my '08. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif If it's offered, I might be trading mine in for one so I can enjoy 45-60mpg average. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

it is absolutely amazing and underrated......she will fill it up while driving in city and go for almost 3 weeks which is over 350 in city miles

My wife actually wants to get a Toyota Prius Hybrid. We drove both the 08 Civic Hybrid and the 08 Prius - we both prefered the Prius over the Civic. Better gas mileage, more room, nicer interior, and a better hybrid-parts warranty. We've decided to wait, though, and see what the 09 model offers - it should be a redesigned model year. Rumors are saying possibly 20% increase in mpg (Prius is rated @ 45-48 in 08 EPA estimates, and 51-60 in 07 and earlier EPA estimates), and maybe even a plug-in feature.

Right now she drives about 12,000 miles a year in a car that gets about 18mpg on average. Prius owners claim an average of around 51 mpg. She pays roughly $2,000 dollars a year in gas right now, based on $3/gallon gas prices. The Prius would save her roughly $1,300 dollar per year - basically replacing the battery pack cost in two years (Toyota warranties the battery packs for 8 years/100,000 miles - btw). I've really only read positive stuff about the Prius from it's owners. Other than it's exterior design (which I don't like), I'm confident it will be a good car for her.

You also don't have to go through emissions testing, and can also drive in HOV lanes in it.

I would say something about the Fit, but I don't want Chad to get mad. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ok, I will say I enjoy passing them while coasting as they punch it to try and catch up. Sorry I had too.
