well now that my car audio system is done i am focusing more on home audio. i want to build my own 5.1 system and i already have a sub and box, and plan on using small dayton sattelites for the rears and a dayton center. so that just leaves the fronts. i was thinking of making 3 way bookshelves and putting them on stands, using these components:

tang band neo sub 5 1/4"

tang band neo tweeter 1"

3 way crossover

im still looking for mids that will fit well with these and any suggestions on other drivers are welcome. and im also thinking about building floor standing speakers with 2 subs and mids and 1 tweet, but dont know if the excess cost would be warrent much better sound.

saying the tang band is a subwoofer your probably gonna need a mid bass driver i say something along the line of a 5 1/4

**edit i just read your looking for some let me find you a link to some**

ya im still lookin around, mostly at 3" dome mids

Your front channels need to match the center channel as much as possible (same drivers, same crossover points) so the front stage is seamless during the many sonic pans in movies.

Ideally all the channels should be identical, but the front soundstage is the most important.

ok, so my center should ideally be made of the same mids/tweets as my other fronts?

Yes.

In HT the center channel is the most important, it carries the dialog as well as pan effects from one side to the other.

When the center doesnt match the fronts the image tends to sharply jump as the sound follows the action onscreen.
