put ring terms on the 8awg, and fasten them together two per bolt and slide bolt in each push down terminal. We do that all the time. works well.

I like this idea... Bolt / washer / the two 8 AWG ring terminals / washer / lockwasher / nut and push in... Nice!

Any bolt from Home Depot? I wonder if they have small copper bolts...

try copperstate nuts n bolts. doubt it but worth a shot

Just trim each 8 gauge wire down and twist them together to make a new single 8 gauge wire to go to the terminal.

this...a 1/2" length of wire trimmed down to the proper size will easily carry the small amount of current your passing...

I ended up going with 1 1/2" #10-32 solid brass bolts and soldered ring terminals. I know they're not aluminum or copper but brass is next in line before stainless... I think it came out great!

This is just being nitpicky but... maybe grind down the threads for a little better contact surface?
