The Right Dog??

whosayswho. if you never had to yell. would you? He never had a reason to growl. He would yelp all the time. But thats what Husky's do to communicate. And yes. My dog was pretty special. Whose dog isnt special to them?

Sup Miguel, I have a little story about a Husky..........don't turn out well though.

I will say this......most dogs you can train, but there is sometimes a chemical imbalance or something that sets off a dog for whatever reason.

I live in an apartment complex and my next door neighbor had a Siberian Huskey and it was a beautiful looking dog, but Husky's like to run and be outside.........not contained in an apartment with 2 kids and of course mom and dad. (A big house with plenty of yard I could see.) So anyway, they had this dog I guess for close to 4 years and never had a problem with it and mind you their kids are young, both boys who play rough. I believe they are like 3 and 8. So the 3 year old was playing with him and I hear a bunch of comotion going on and then screams! I run out to see the mom holding her son with half his face torn off! (Sorry to be so graphic, but was true.) Well find out that the dog for no apparent reason attacked the little boy and just mauled him, now this is no small dog either. We are talking well over 100 pounds of pure muscle! So anyway, I had to contain the dog.......yeah, lucky me as the father wasn't there. Well I guess I lucked out and seemed the dog had calmed down and just went back to laying down like nothing even happened and started to lick his bloody paws like it was chocolate on his paws. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif So she called 911 and the police come and ambulance to take the kid to the hospital and the police take the dog.........where they take it to this one place and well, you guess the rest.

Kid had over 100 stitches and reconstructive surgery to get him back to looking human again. Just baffles me why a dog that was good for so long just up and turn on this little boy. From what I gathered the little boy told his mommy that he steped on his tail and that sent the dog in a fury!

Well now 6 months later or so and our apartment complex don't allow pets anymore and the little boy is doing just fine, but that is my expierence with a Siberian Husky.......beautiful dog, but man are they mean when they want to be mean. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

If you want a good house dog that is good with kids, get yourself a Lab. Perfect temperment and still will play.........till they get older.

Me, I love German Shephards, which are awesome family dogs, but not for everyone. Takes a lot of training to get them to calm down......kinda hyper.

If I'm not mistaken, malamutes tend to get a little bigger than huskies though. Upwards of 50lbs bigger at max.
I'd hate to have a full grown territorial malamute around kids smaller than it.
actually upwards of 80-120lbs. great breed if you have something for them to do all day since they are a working breed and will get bored of just sitting in the backyard and will figure something out to do. digging is one of the things i've seen happen.

:laugh:definitely diggers. i love both dogs. huskies can be stubborn but if your good with training dogs and walk then so they get there exercise everyday your fine. personally i would go with a boxer though:D

i personally cant stand boxers, they have the highest energy needs out of any dog i've ever owned/fostered. and they are dumb as a doornail, at least the ones i've dealt with were. far too hyper of a dog if you have kids.

One of my huskies bit my face when I was 7. I have a huge scar on the left side of my face and a small one on the right side of my nose. 107 stitches, had plastic surgery to fix it. Turns out the dog was trained by the military(got the dog from an Army MP) and some words I said provoked it into biting me.

I still would like another husky or 2, 3, 4, 5, ect. I love those dogs. Oh and every one I've ever had, has NEVER weighed over 100lbs. My biggest Jake, weighed 74lbs soaking wet with a full coat of hair. All of ours were full blooded AKC with papers. Jake was from Championship blood. I still have his papers.

I disagree, its all how the dog is trained, boxers are high energy dogs yes, but mine have always been great around small children, in fact if you search around, boxers are very intelligent, even usedas police dogs in other countries;)

Dude that is crazy, you thought the story I just wrote was about you, lol!

Had a Great Dane, awesome dog. It would play rough with small dogs, my mothers min-pin and never hurt them. One thing though is that they like attention and you have to treat them with respect because they are not a stupid dog. Mine learned how to use door knobs at under a year old, and would respond to complex verbal commands. The only down side is they are a crazy expensive dog, I paid 2K for mine.

A boxer is really energetic and playful. The one we had like 8 years ago was dumb as a box of rocks, too. I used to mess with it with the little red lasers. My mom had to replace the front window twice because the dog jumped through it trying to catch the red dot. It also though it was a Kangaroo, because it always used to jump like 5 feet in the air.

We have an American Bulldog now, and she's sweet as anything. Never bit anyone, or shown any aggression, unless you're playing with her with her chew toys.

I love boxers when they are puppies, besides that, not the dog for me. Grow up to be dumb as shit and always looks pissed off........and yes very hyper. My cousin breeds them and I hate going over there. Got to love it when the father tries to fawk the kids. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

That is how stupid they are.
