The "new" lil wayne is not good

at one time lil wayne made quality songs....esp when he was doing nothing but mixtapes/freestyles

I don't think I've heard many of his mixtape songs but I think the Carter 3 was better than the first 2. I'll stick with Eminem, Royce Da 5'9, Tech N9ne, Lupe Fiasco, and Kanye West for now.

Illmatic from Nas was exceptional. It is one of those albums that you must listen to, whether you like rap or not.

Jay-Z songs (and albums) can be broken into two categories:

1) Commercial (ie. that garbage with R. Kelly)

2) Serious

When Jay-Z is serious about his art, he is one of the best of all time.

Lil Wayne, on the other hand, survives on hype. Just my opinion...

I listened to Illmatic many times and Life's a ***** and Live at the BBQ are the ones that stand out most to me. the verse on Back to the grill made me give Illmatic a try.

lil wayne is in the sespool with all the other rapper's.. jay-z has more album's tell's stories instead of random lyrics that ryme...

Nas Illmatic and the one after than along with old Jay Z shit like reasonable doubt > all the shit mentioned in this thread. If you are too young to remember them or just have never heard them I highly suggest checking them out.

They are both somewhat 'commericalish' but nothing like the clusterfuck of garbage coming out these days.

well i guess im different i have liked wayne since the carter. i think he does have good rhymes. and you never get bored with him. he always has mix tapes coming out. its like the dude lives in the studio.

The album Nas did before nastradamus was the shit and so was Illmatic. A lot of people are forgetting other good shit that came out back in the day like Snoop/Dre, Bone Thugs, Kurupt, DMX's first 2 or 3 albums, Jay-Z's older stuff is better than the new stuff he's done, Brotha Lynch, Ice Cube, Three 6, Master P, and Scarface....If I hear another rap dance song, I'm going to ****in' shoot myself in the head!

I agree...T-Pain is the only one that can pull that off, and T-Pain is the shit

If you're a 13 year old girl then yes, he basically has the lyrical ability of a 2 year old, at least all of that new crap is.

But I highly agree that everyone has an opinion, so I can't really criticize too much.

The ONE and only song I like from Wayne was Hustler's Muzik.
