i was playing with one at BB last night and the color screen is really nice. the 16 band EQ impressed me too.

what i wanna know is, is it worth it to pay $300 for one of these instead of buying a 2005 model thats cheaper? using the Eq, is your music audibly better then using one without the eq?? if you have this deck and used other pioneers in the past, would you say it's the best one you ever had??

It would be worth it. However I would take my 860 over that any day. Yes, there were alot of people that had problems with their 860s but I never had a single problem with mine. Regardless of what you decide on I would insist on buying it where you can get a warranty. It just makes soooo much more sense.

What is that supposed to mean.?? You can have a professionally sounding system with just about any deck if the rest of the system is done right.

This is a sophisticated deck that requires time to tweak the settings to your satisfaction. Is it worth the money? How into sound quality are you? The EQ and other sound settings do have a huge impact on the overall sound and the 5volt preout deliver a stronger cleaner signal to the amps. You can see my review of this deck on the Product Review page.

Conversely, there is nothing wrong with looker at less expensive decks. Alpine is a quality manuafacturer and has simplified their lineup. Look at the 9856. The best thing to do would be go to the store and see for yourself.

But yes with this Pioneer deck you get what you pay for.

buddy i have heard both the 860 and 780 side by side on the same setup in my car .the 860 sounds better than the 780. the 20khz eq on the 780 does`nt even make a difference. i say before buying you should listen to both of them and then decide.

the 860 costs just as much as the 7800!! maybe i'll shoot for a 7700

It's the best HU I've ever had. Good features easy to use. Go for it.

I have two questions about the 7800mp.

1. When HU is on, whether on Tuner or CD the Time characters shuffle though Outlined and Regular Text. Didn't see anything in the menu to have it just stay at one, and not shuffle. Is this by design?

2. I have the power plugged into my accessory on fuse. When HU is turned off, but I haven't opened my car door which is still sending power to the HU and the display turns white then black and so on. Is this also by design?
