The Official Type R Thread

yea i considered a ported box for it. i wanted a small sealed one mainly because of space issues since i drive a hatchback but ill really consider a ported box.
thanks for the prompt replies
Haha, well, they like large and ported. So thats where I'm kinda screwed too. I can now only run a single 12....

Hey guys.. I just finsihed buying

2 x Alpine SWR-1222D ( 2ohms )

1x HIFONICS ZXi-1308 ( 650 Watts RMS x 2 @ 2-Ohms ) ( 1300 RMS x 1 @ 4-Ohms ) (2 Channel)

1x ProBox: 212SPB

Ive looked on this forum and it seems no one has ever gotten a pro box... armor plated boxes tuned and ported..

I got this particular model: http://www.proboxrocks.com/products/enclosures/unloaded/superbass/212SPB/index.shtml

I just have a couple questions...

1. What kind of wire will I need? I'm thinking 1/0 gauge since my total wattage is going to me 1300 RMS + 600 RMS for Mids & Highs.

2. The Amp that I got will it work well with the subs?

1. 1/0 to a dblock then 4g to the amps and you will be fine(check the big 3 thread for more help as it never hurts to do the big 3)

2.err you should have gotten D4's with that amp since each ch's min is 2 ohms. now you will have to run at 1 or 4 ohms per ch.

i dont think that amp can take 1ohm daily judging by what you have said, it sounds like the min imp per ch is 2 ohms.

2 subs that are d2 wired together(that would be bridged on your amp):http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=2&woofer_imp=3

each sub per ch:http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=1&woofer_imp=3

So which hifonics amp do you suggest me getting? I could just send back the Hifonics amp to millionbuy for a refund which is no biggie, I just really want to power the subs with 600-700 rms each one.

NOOB Question: My question is for a class d monoblock amp do I need a class D alternator?

Can you recommend me a hifonics amp that can power the subs nicely? 700 Watts RMS is what i want for each one.

EDIT: Im looking at this Amp...

http://www.millionbuy.com/hifbxi1606d.html

# 1100 watts RMS x 1 chan. @ 2 Ohms / 1600 watts RMS x 1 chan. @ 1 Ohm

Would this be good for my car? I have a 2003 Toyota 4 Runner sr5 Stock Bat. and Alt.

..

That Probox is tuned to around 50 hertz. Enjoy!
1st: Ok, I have a question.. I don't know anything about tuning and I will be taking all of this to a pro to be installed? Do I have to tell him anything about tuning it or anything?

2nd: The Amp I'm looking at.. is it a good match for the type r's? Can the swr-1222D run with the HIFONICS BXi1606D at 1Ohm? I really want to know quick so I can buy it tonight and get it sent to me tommorow.

Let me give you the specs of the Amp:

# 550Wx1 RMS @ 4 ohm

# 1100Wx1 RMS @ 2 ohm

# 1600Wx1 RMS @ 1 ohm

two Rs on a 1606 is a good setup to start with. I wouldn't recommend taking your system to a pro, seeing as several "pros" don't give a rats *** on what you say. Take the time to learn more about car audio on this site, and you will thank me later when you did the correct install. It's not hard, it really isn't, just requires patience and momentum. One thing to note is that the hifonics 1606 does its most power at 1ohm, meaning your subs aren't compatible. Two dual2 subs wire into .5 ohm, 2 ohm, or an 8ohm load. Switch your subs for the dual4 ohm version and wire them in parallel to achieve a final load of 1 ohm. Your other option is to purchase a different amplifier that does its most power (or 1600-2000rms) at 2ohms. Shoot me a PM if you got anymore questions
