The Official Type R Thread

nuthing comparable for the price

if this was back in '98 that would be a $300 woofer-- in upper 90's i had several different $250-300 woofers that could not compare to the type R's performance

2 friends with them one has the M605 )600w RMS on a 1042d) and the other the M1005 (1,000 RMS on 1242d)

I know it has one but i mean i was askin this becasue some people are runnin like 1500 watts to them but ive figured it out anyway im going with the viper 1200.1 so thank you all for the help.
run that shit, and if you smell the VC turn it down,

set your gains properly to the tune of your box, you'll be hittin

Ok i will when i order it and it gets here becasue ill prob have to ask you guys how to wire it btw i dont have the sub yet ill be gettin it afterwards when i get my insureance money from my truck:D Should i get the 2ohm or the 4 ohm? And Im gonna be able to wire it to 1 ohm right to get the full 1200? if not ill jsut wire it to 2ohm and get 800:)

Yea thats what i mean ive got to figure out if i need to get the 2ohm or 4ohm sub that way when i wire it to my amp i can get the most power as possible and that amp is 1200 at 1 ohm so i need the sub that can be wired to 1ohm.

its kinda hard to compare WinISD results to real, in-car results.

personally, id rather not have a peak like the one given by the larger box. if youre concerned with SQ youll want the flattest response curve possible. id stick to around 2.5 net each and around 30 - 32 hz.

but i dont have any experience with the new type Rs..

3.5 after

believe it or not, its not a peaky as you would think

SQL is awsome, you will love it if you do it

if you want a flat curve build a sealed box and loose all the output---

if your gonna build a vented box build a vented box worth building

exactly-- the graph doesn't prove anything, but the nearly 20db cabin gain will and helps everything work together, the is a gradual slope its not like its shape like this "/\"

the only way you will notice a huge difference in db is if you heard a 37 hz tone then a 80hz tone one after the other, and at that, who's running midbass through a subwoofer? not me the bass i listen to is from 25-60hz where the real bass is none of that high midbass needs to come through my sub, only through my midbass speakers

hey listen to who you want, im not trying to prove anyone wrong, i was just trying to help you out

imagine the curve is the balls of your stereo, noone wants small balls

its what gives your system the balls

if you did the 3.5 box and your friends did the 2.4 as we have been talking about, your system would have more of a ballsy sound than the 2.4, while sounding better and out hitting him in every way
