ok, i just sold my 15 xxx to a member on this forum b/c my ported box for it wouldn't fit in my new car. anyway, i ended up getting 2 12" type-r's (2005) in a ported box (1.5 per sub @ 34hz). i used the same amp that i used with the xxx which was a hifonics 2200d (2200wrms @ 1 ohm). they're getting about 1000watts each and they slam HARD! gains are set correctly, no bass boost on amp or hu... everything in eq is flat.

so will they type-r's take 1000 watts? definitely! but watch the settings and listen for stress in the speaker.

What the hell did I just started???? Anyhow, in paper im feeding 1000watts in 2 ohms to the subs but of course i wouldn't be surprised if its getting any less since theres noway i could maintain 14.4 volts. Bottom line, it pushes the Type R nicely.

I'm actually kind of excited to hear my Type R's sealed. Main reason I'm going sealed is I want to hear some sort of comparison against my single SE 15 sealed. Then later on, I'll port them and go from there.

I'm going back to sleep for a few hours now, then it's time to get crackin on the box!

So, the days are getting down to about 2 days will I have my type-rs, and amps coming... what I wanna hear is... what size slot ported boxes are people running on thier TYPE R 12"...What tuning frequency...

I had 2.85cuft @ 36hz planned, btu now am hearing this is not the 'ideal' setup.

I listen to rap, techno, hardrock, anything with a pulse...

Are you just taking that from thier manual?? 1.7cuft is their suggestions... and i heard this was not ideal.

1.7 cubes for one sub.........3.4 for 2.......whats not ideal about recc. specs? someone said it wont be LOUD? spkrman runs a business, and promotes it by saying things are not ideal. good plan.......and his boxes DO work. i have nothing against him or anything like that, but his boxes are not just ported boxes. reccommended specs will be PLENTY loud for daily listening. never doubted it on any other setup have u?
