I've actually tested the amp... those tests are under strict conditions on a RESISTIVE load.i dont know what m1005 your talking aboutheres my friends test sheet we have it wired at 2 ohms, and on the amp it display's a 14.4-14.3 idle voltage

lol, full gain, bass all the way up, sub level +20.... its typical! Especially with setups that aren't "loud".... people try to do as much as they can to get it louder, which is typcally turn everything up.Anyone that hooks thier subs up 2x thier RMS rated wattage would be paying attention to how the sub acted... and turn it down if need be...
Its not like they wire up the sub, full gain, and crank thier head unit...
itll sound like shit and btw i hate that alpine amp.Im kinda fishing around for some input.... I have learned lots about the ported Type R 12, but what about sealed? Anyone had one in a truck? How'd that sound, and were you putting 1000W to it, or just RMS rated power?
Can the Type-R 12 handle 1000W RMS as a daily LOUD driver?
What size sealed box for this kinda setup?
PS - I'm talking about the NEW Type-R 12
I saw one last week... or it could have been a home theatre on wheels //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gifcar audio? where?
lmfao, take it from someone who had em in a sealed box.... Should make a vid with your sealed box too... haha watch it pull a 132 at 55hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifitll sound like shit
umm i dont think it can break a 130 sealed w/ my amp....lmfao, take it from someone who had em in a sealed box.... Should make a vid with your sealed box too... haha watch it pull a 132 at 55hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
The R lasted all of 5 minutes in a sealed box, this includes install time, in my car. Why it hates being sealed so much, I dont know...
hehe you might be right... man do they **** sealed.umm i dont think it can break a 130 sealed w/ my amp....
i can guarantee it wont, they had to turn the gain about 80% up for them to get loud and very distorted.hehe you might be right... man do they **** sealed.
BUt, if i had to guess.. 132-133 at 48-50hz.
hm, they were definitely in phase? Below a 130 with a pair of 12's is just miserable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifi can guarantee it wont, they had to turn the gain about 80% up for them to get loud and very distorted.
yes it was horrible, with gains set appropriately they sounded worse then factory speakers didhm, they were definitely in phase? Below a 130 with a pair of 12's is just miserable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Are you sure you dont have some kinda defective amp? I mean I have no idea how you can say the MRD-M1005 sucks... Ive read about 50 reviews of the thing that say they are top notch... just dont get it, I will see soon enuff...yes it was horrible, with gains set appropriately they sounded worse then factory speakers did
mark said what mine did he was the one that did it, its garbage, no one actually tests them they go off numbers alpine tells them and says its great. Are you sure you dont have some kinda defective amp? When you take an amp in to be tested for TRUE REAL LIFE RMS output... what kind of test do I need to have done, is there a name or someway I can describe to the guy what to do if nessessary?
exactly...mark said what mine did he was the one that did it, its garbage, no one actually tests them they go off numbers alpine tells them and says its great.
well getting results will vary. you can take it to them and theyll tell you one thing in one setup then , in your setup it may be diffrent, unless its gonna be tested in the same vehicle, either way that amp is rated @ 700W i believe. and most amps dont do there rated power. and yeah by the way that amp doing 900-1000 peak may be in belief. but who cares about peak! you also have voltage dropouts, so might wanna consider that and all that other good stuff...peaceJust because I heard a couple people say it doesnt do the 1000W RMS @ 2OHM I will take mine in for testing on tuesday/wednesday, and scan thier reports, see who's talkin shit, and see who isnt.
I beleive it does between 900-1000W, Ive had Alpine amps for a long time, and all have put out atleast thier rated wattage.
custel or whatever says 850W atleast, which would be more beleivable than 650W... but none the less, I still stick with the 900W +
Any betters?
