ok here is the deal.

i love car subs and all that but am a mega mega newbie to this so what i was thinking. {since i don't have a car}

Is it possible to run the 2005 alpine type r 12'' dual 2 ohm coil off of a crown dj amp that puts out 500watts rms [set to mono] at 8 ohms ?

I have a sheet of mdf ...the power drill etc screws all that good stuff. my good buddy is a installer but is really busy all the time and i thought i would ask you all.

He can help me design and build the box.

The room it would be in is a medium size living room so mabye a 10 would be better?

Looking for the extreme low bass from a ported box with some decent sq.

I listen to mostly metal so most would think i want a sealed sub for that good SQ for drums....nah i want a savage box 2 cube ported is what im thinking.

what tuning should i use for the port?

Is the alpine the driver for me? anyother 500 watts rms dvc subs out there in that price range out there on ebay that are better for my spl/ sq needs?

Thinking of the install i wanted to flip the sub around so you see that massive magnet.

Any other info you need just ask i will supply you with it/./// oh ya price range for the whole set up is 500 canadian.

I have all the speaker wire nice monster wire 10 guage for the woofers.

hmmmmm still thinking so in conclusion.....medium size room meant for spl/sq ....metal music running off a crown amp.

Oh ya i emailed the crown company and the engineer mailed me back on the specfic model , he said that the power ratings are under rated

and for a home set up it would rock but not at all for any concert or live music as it would draw too much power.

Will this set up work?

Will that amp give that driver [alpine type r] the real power it needs ?

What petty attacks are you talking about? I asked a sincere question, end of story. You just CAN'T take it when something or someone disagrees with what you have set up in your little mind.

I never asked any Mod, or anyone to come in here...or any thread...ever. It's rediculous responses, and just plain whining that earn you the repsonses you received.

Ebay is not cheap for the 1241d, and they dont even have any non-used ones on auction atm. And trancer, i was askin about 1241d, not 1221, and i cant run my amp at 2 ohms bridged.

So, basically you guys are saying, running the 1242d at 300 rms a piece would be fine?

why would they have anything other then used? they dont make it any more, 300 is underpowering, but it should still get loud for your liking.

Ya you can hook it up, but get the Dual 4 ohm version and wire it to an 8 ohm load. I dont know if the house amp can handle a 4 ohm load. The Type R can handle well beyond its power rating. Also, if you decide to do this, which seems you are pretty set on it, tune it down to around 24 hrtz
