I guess to support any sort of aggressive foreign policy we all must be enlisted in the army. Anyone who resorts to that argument is running low on ideas. In case you forgot, this is a volunteered military, they chose to go there.

I'm not saying you have to be in the military, I'm just saying that its really easy to sit here at home while others in the military are over there fighting W's war for oil. Not even mentioning how many of them are dying every month. Thats right, I said oil and I'd say it again if I had to. That is clearly what this invasion is about. Oh and about the military, our troops didn't choose to go to Iraq. They chose to serve and protect our country from all enemies. NOT go invade a country on false pretences. Possibly not you, Adam, but it is people like that absolutely moronic group that goes around protesting at the funeral services of fallen soldiers carrying signs and banners which proudly proclaim it was the will of God or some such silliness that give many people the opinion that anyone who is against the current hostilities in the Middle East must also be against our armed forces as a whole. I won't speak for everyone but if I had the ability to go enlist today I would do so without hesitation. Period. Even knowing that most likely I would get sent over there straight out of boot I'd do it anyway. As far as a war for oil is concerned....if we really went over there purely for oil concerns then WHERE is it? The pipelines are flowing again yet the prices here remain at around $3/gallon. If we really went over there for oil we'd have taken it in the 1st Gulf war and been done with it then. I happily concede that this mission has been mismanaged from the outset but unless someone can "Show me the $$$" so to speak I will continue to believe that anyone truly thinking we are over there for nothing more than oil is more than a bit foolish.

This I have to agree with. If someone doesn't understand our footing on the world stage mattering to our continued longevity and prosperity as a nation then they have no compehension of world politics and our place in it. We should give a shit how we are viewed around the world. Until going to Australia for the first time in 2001 to meet the lady who became my wife this past October I never had a real grasp on how we are seen by people on the outside looking in. A humbling experience, to be sure.

If it were a draft I would feel a little more sympathy with what your saying, but its not, and saying that war supporters are only justified in supporting war if they are in the army is complete crap.
