its a youtube video.. thats not a credible source at all.
WOW, you really like to be closed minded don't you. Why don't you just watch it and see if it helps you understand the calender more, unless you already know about it and just like posting shit that is irrelavent.

no im not closeminded. i just dont find any correlation between the end of the world and mayan calender and some sun spots? now if you came in this thread with some decent evidence i might be a little more intrigued.

you need to know what the mayan calendar is exactly first. It has 5 cycles that were meant to last a total of 5000 years and began in 3113 BC . On 2012 AD it will end and reset itself. Which is why people believe it may be the end of the world. If it's not the end of the world then it could be a major change of some sort, who knows what exactly. Some people also claim to know the different cycles and there meanings.

That really sums it up as far as evidence goes, the calendar i believe was like 12 foot tall and weighed 12 tons or something. These guys predicted all kinds of astronomical things, why wouldn't they be able to predict the end of the world?

you my friend are the one who needs to do more research

I can tell the future by looking at my poo...

The world is going to end the 24th of December, duh. You can tell by the little colored spots and the pattern of corn dispersion.

No but seriously, if the Mayans were so smart then why did they die out? People take the words of a few crazy men and twist them into an Armageddon. BTW, the Mayan end of calendar doesn't mean end of the world it just means time of great change and it is based on a cycle of 4 stones that rotate for their yearly meaning. Mathematically the stones stop matching up at 2012, which doesn't mean anything other than they weren't that good at math..

Also the word Armageddon actually means Mountain of Megiddo which is supposedly the site of the last battle between god and the devil.

Btw sun spots follow an 11 year cycle. The minimum point for sunspots in the cycle happened this year. So, that means the next peak in sun spot activity is going to be in the year 2019, not 2012. Plus sun spots have nothing to do with earthquakes. They do however screw with communications systems.

Well, it has been proven that there have been visible sunspots on the suns surface over the past several years. This is said to prove that the sun is going to pull itself towards the earth from gravitational pull and cause massive earthquakes and storms and many say if it doesn't end the world it will kill alot of people leaving only the prepared left to survive.
I am not supporting this at all, but i am seriously beginning to think about it. I believe it is a possibility and i see no proof of it being proven false. The mayan calenders predict 2012 as a change for the world we know today, not exactly the end. Who knows if they are correct, if the world will be changed on the exact date of 2012, but it could be in our near future. Again, i am not supporting this, but what if it happens in our near future, while we are still alive? What if the scientists are correct and there is a golden age of some sort?
you arent quoting something that implies that the earths gravitational pull is stronger than that of the sun, are you?

To move the earth closer to the sun the speed of the earth would have to slow down.

For the earth to make an abrupt change something would have to happen to slow it down. Lets say a 10% change in speed.

That would require 5.9742 x 10^23 Newtons of force. Good luck finding that.

i dont remember my science classes.

have an example of something that is just 1 or 100 newtons of force just so i can have an idea at how impossible it really is?

thanks.

A 5000lb car hitting a brick wall at 35 MPH would generate about 3.54 x 10^4 Newtons.

It it would be approximately equal to 2.01 x 10^36 cars crashing into brick walls.

That would be 2,010,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 cars.

I'm a fairly old guy, been there done that. Seen this type of thing many times. We're still here kicking. This kind of stuff goes on every generation. Several generations ago it was meteor showers that would set people off. It's always something.

Watch the Gregg Braden video on Google vids for the scientific support for the turn of the ages....such as the magnetic and cyclical shift in the Earth. There has been a few times within the Earth's evolution that the Earth has stopped rotating and reversed on it's axis. Next time it's due: December 21st 2012. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

my dB'z will take care of that.

Well I am curious about some of these theories, but that is all they are to me. While the Mayan stuff makes for really good TV, I am not so sure that modern man can be so sure of their interpretation of something so foreign. Another source of this timeframe for the end of the world as we know it is the Bible. For all of you that follow the Christian faith, the Bible predicts the rapture near this same time frame. There have been many other people throughout history that have indicated the 2012 timeframe as being a time of major change and unrest. These go back many thousands of years.

Now do I cry at night worrying about "what if?" Hell no. Do I think it is interesting and study it in my free time, sure. I am a nerd like that I guess. But I am no conspiracy theorist. I think that mindset can be used against your own will.

Take for instance the killing that the gun industry is making right now. All due to people saying that Obama is going to take you gun away from you. The honest truth is that he can't take anything away from you, but you won't hear that from anyone who makes their living in the gun industry.

Remember when the world was flat?
