In terms of initial build quality. It's not in the same league. The 300 doesn't even come with real wood grain, but instead a screen printed marble wood plastic. It has no attention to detail whatsoever.

The only reason why american cars have stayed here for so long is because police, ambulance, etc etc are keeping them in service....now if they were only smart enough to have camrys or accords as police cars, then we can save money on gas too.
I won't front though, GM has really improved there product in recent years but it may be too late for them. I know Chrysler is still sub-par and I'm not too sure about Ford but looking at the interior of the new Mustang looks like they are finally getting the message. It's just too bad that they decided to improve their product too late because if they go under I would honestly miss seeing some of those cars on the road. The imports just offer a more options and better quality. X5/ML/Cayenne/RR>Escalade/Navigator E/5/A6/M/GS>STS/MKZ/300 and Z/S2K>Mustang/Challenger

Actually yes they have and currently do. The 500 was dropped and given the Taurus name after a short run.

I have yet to find an average jap car that I find decent. Just the feel of them and the looks of their interiors and such make me wanna puke. Of all the friends I have known who have Jap cars they seem to have just as many problems as domestics. Plus those I have driven or ridden in just give me a tin can feeling.

Then again I don't ever forsee me in a car. Trucks just feel so much more comfortable to drive and to work on/with.

I will say that I hate to admit but the new Camry looks pretty good, and the fact that many of the foreign cars can be had with manuals but I still don't think I could drive one, least not for long at all.

I see all these debates over the auto industry like this, and I kinda do help the big 3 go under. That way when all the manufacturing plants get shut down and even kids at mcdonald's are getting laid off cause no one can afford the freaking dollar menu. The debate isn't even about whether the cars are crap or not, they can fix that and make better cars. It's about the whole countries economy.

Those 400,000 or so employees for the big 3 get laid off, then the million or so working for companies that contract with the big 3 go under. Before you know it every1 is in the sh!thole. Might as well start buying mitsubishi & honda stock now, cause the asians will run the world.
