hey guys, need some help here. looking for a nice sub or subs to put in my xterra. i was thinking i could just get one 10 or 12 to have some nice bass to fill up my car. i was looking between these choices:

fosgate hx2

audiobahn flame q's

alpine type r

pioneer vccs pro series

which do you think is the best and what kind of amp do i need to push the sub(s). any advice is appreciated.

i understand the sub stuff but i dont quite understand how many channels, ohms, bridged and that kind of stuff when it comes to amps. that is why i am asking what kind of amp i would need.

Thanks

What do you expect from your subs?

The RF HX2 would be loud, and would not have a lot of sound quality, if any at all.

Audiobahm Flame Q's...same thing as the HX2...not a lot of sound quality

Type R's...they do alright, not my favourite but they do get pretty loud and sound pretty nice to some people.

Pioneer's...decent...the IMPP's seem to be pretty sweet.

I would also like to suggest the Adire Audio Shiva - http://www.adireaudio.com . A very nice sub overall...and it wont break the bank at only $125. Dont let its looks fool you.

A mono amp would be fine for a single sub. You could also get a 5 channel amp to power your whole system, that would be fine as well.

eh, I"d have to disagree, in my own opinion, and say that type r's have the capacity to fill low-end fairly well. I had two in my explorer and they went very loud (when given enough power). I had two Alpine MRD-M300 V12 amps hooked up to them. They are kinda expensive amps, but it is very clean, smoothe power, in my opinion. If you go with type r's, consider looking at an mrd-m300 for powering it. also, if you get type r's, get a dual 4-ohm voice coil subwoofer, wire it at 2 ohms, then power it with a 2 ohm monoblock amp. (that's my suggestion)
