Testing subs with dmm, nothing

I invested, and when I turn it on the ohms setting, it reads one constantly, unless I touch the leads together, than they get a reading, but when I put it on my sub or speakers it reads nothing; I'm sure it's a simple mistake since it's my first time using one.... I have it set for ohms at 2m, but I have tried 200k, and 20k and nothing

No there was 3, one labeled com where I put the black lead, and then I put the red one on the one that had the ohm symbol by it

I'd say fault in the meter, a 1 means value is overflowed (too much) but you went from 200 to 20k with no change.

You need to use the lowest ohms range the meter has.

use the 20 or 200ohm setting

hold shouldn't make a difference in resistance readings, but leave it off so it shows real time resistance

I don't have a 20 option, so it's on 200, still nothing, it has a one sign way left, if I put it to read anything else on something it does, just not the ohms part

I just tested it again on my speakers, and it read them, but with the subs it only reads on the 200m side but I also think that's measuring volts, it jumps from .1 to .3 on that setting

what brand of DMM are you using, post a link if possible.

"1" does not always mean over value. on a cheaper dmm, it means open line.

My meter displays "OL" but i have several cheaper models that display 1.
