Hey boys and girls, ok so I recently installed a new Zapco st1650x amp in my car the old amp was an alpine rated at 400w rms. The sub is a 10" SSA icon. The amp played fairly well not a ton of out but plenty to keep up with the factory front stage. This will be changed soon. While I was changing the amp I did a big 3 upgrade with 0 gauge wire. So my problem is with new amp installed the out put is no where near where it was with the alpine. It's overall quieter but exspecially on the low end upper bass seams ok but not great.
While changing the amp I did not disconnect the battery dumb I know I won't be doing this again. And had the rcas laying in the trunk on the bare metal. I know some older Pioneer head units have had issues with hot swapping RCA's. The head unit was not turned on but it was connected to power. So this got me thinking. I did some testing with a 50 Hz test tone. At half volume I get around. .7-.8 V and at almost Max volume I see almost 8 V knowing that the head unit is rated at 5 V this doesn't seem right. Can someone tell me if this seems right or anywhere close to where it should be. I'm trying to figure out if maybe they had unit or RCA's or bad or maybe I got a bad amp. Amp is brand new.
