Testing new equipment?

I just bought 2 subs and 2 amps from someone on this board. They arrived today and I would like to know if they work. They should be fine because they were advertised as never used, but I want to make sure nothing happened during shipping. I don't have any wiring done in my car to test it that way. Are there any simple methods to make sure that they are atleast not blown? Thanks.

9v battery to the leads will tell if the speakers move.

that's not dangerous to the subs at all right? Could I use a DMM to test the amp somehow?

No, the 9 volt method is used quite a bit.

we use cordless drill batteries for that too.
