i want to test my kinetik to show a buyer that is still is working properly. i guess still holds charge. so how can i do this with out putting it in a car and trying?thanks. mabye dumb question but want to know before the buyer picks it up tomorrow. and i bought it used, and never used its been sitting for a while.

Buy or get a DMM and select Votlage DC and put the leads on the posts. That will tell you what voltage it is resting at.

well i got one says its reading 12.6, but does that indicate it will still hold charge? allot of interested buyers been asking that, i tell them its sitting at 12.6 but they sound like they want to hear more than that?

Yes it will hold a charge. If it didnt.... then the voltage would be a lot lower than that. As it is going bad and is leaking charge. But if its been sitting a while and the resting voltage is 12.6.... your good to go

load test it......also if you buy a little agm automatic charger and charge it, it should take a good bit of time for it to charge being as it rests at 12.6, a fully charged one should rest at 12.8 or higher. If it takes 10 minutes to click off the charger I would get it load tested .

At 12.6v it is not fully charged. You should take it to Autozone or whatever and have them fully charge it. Should take less than an hour form 12.6v. It should rest at around 13.0v with a full charge. You might even see up to 13.2v with the right charge. After it is fully charged and cooled back down, have it load tested. The size of load depends on the model of the battery.

i wouldnt get autozone to charge it, they would throw it on 75amps and that could ruin it. Best charge is slow 5 amp over night. Take it there to get them to load test it though. It could show 12v all day but drop to like 100cca after a load is on it

i got a battery charger that i never opened that i just found in my garage lol. should i put it on 2amp slow or 12 amp rapid? it says 2 amp slow is not for automotive batteries

i have always done mine on SLOW, just got a van that sat like 4mths, batt was dead, slow charged it for a day (24 hours) has been fine for about 3 months now
