Test drove my new car today!!

im 21...and looking for a fun car...stiff suspension is not a problem
trust me, itss not a problem at first but after a while it sucks, i had a 03 2 dr hemi ram with a hotchkis TVS kit, fun to drive but after a while it gets old. but good luck with whatever you choose.

ya cant really compare a gto to a jetta but i dunno if i would rock a gto daily, theyre not the most comfortable cars. stiff suspension for everyday driving.
my 96 TA was stiff, bucket seats and i loved how it handled and felt while driving. probably the most comfortable car ive driven.

and x2 on the appeal of a fast car and what not does wear off. its fun knowing you can pass anyone when you want to but after about 2 yrs of owning the TA im over it. i value my 40mpg in the civic way more than the power of my TA lol

well if you want it go for it, but to me a 19k v8 car while your still in school just does not seem to smart to me...

i can only imagine what the payment and insurance is going to be, how will you afford it?

edit: not to mention 50k miles

just goes to show ya, to each their own, i just cant get over how low to the ground they feel, was gonna scoop a 00 ss camaro but wasnt my idea of comfort. responsive yes, comfortable, no.

even the seat itself looks like it would be uncomfortable (i had the black leather) but i went on a couple pretty long road trips ( 8 hrs, 16hrs) and i really didnt feel the need to get out and stretch my legs all that much like i have in other cars. now the passenger is another story. that giant hump that is in their floorboard sucks lol i think i road in the passenger seat twice and it was horrible! but again for some reason i really like the stiff suspension. to each their own just like you said.

1.8t>LS2
simply because gas mileage is retarded in a v8. i bet that car sucks up gas. yea its faster and whatever, but honestly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

oh yea, 05 jetta = 14k, 05 gto = 18k

hmmm. i bet if you put $4k into a 1.8t it would have been a bit more impressive hehe.
zomg VW is the only company that makes cool cars. plus their german so its the best. especially when you put an oversized front bumper on them. then they're tizziiiight! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

GTO > Jetta all day. and if you can afford the gas, who cares?

I drove a friends 05 6.0 around for while, Hooker headers, a "custom" cam(No effing lcue what it was), high flow cats, x pipe, intake, 540 crank on a dyno, was a fun as car. Stock suspension, handled pretty well and the ride was a little stiff - but as it was only for a couple of weeks I never got tired of it. On a lighter note, I had a MazdaSpeed3, it was comfortable and I liked it, but it got old after less than a year.

Think about gas mileage as much as anything man, I say buy you a nice SI or Jetta and let it right(I vote SI, great little cars and arent stupid expensive)

Anywho, the GTO isnt that horrible on gas, I got somewhere around 17 city out of the 6.0 that I was driving, and although some people run 87 it will give you a bit of a knock - I would suggest to run the 93 octane.

The Jettas are turds, as well. Ran one in my stock Mazda, he had about three grand in the motor - boost controller, turbo back, intake, bov and an upgraded intercooler IIRC - he still couldnt do anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif, he was about heads up with a late 90's GT

Best of luck in your decision, if it was Me I'd buy me a 4 cyl Honda Civic and build me a street rod

That's what I"m getting ready to do, I'm putting my nice audio off for a while

Sorry for being long winded.

Also - what exactly appeals to you about the GTO vs the GLI?

people keep suggesting cars that are in a completely different class than what he is looking to buy. a Muscle car is quit a bit different than a 4 cylinder sedan. turbo or not.

I'm sure the V8 is very appealing along with the badass looks/styling.

my buddy has an '05 with kooks headers, cam, bolt-ons...pretty sick car. mileage sucks, he drives a 4cyl s10 daily

i dont care which wv youre talking about, a vw is not in the same ballpark as a gto..not to mention theyre pretty lame

Well it seems like gas money is no problem for him, either from a Summer job which apparently he made 20K in (What exactly was that lol) or his parents or whatever. If he wants to shell out the money, and loves the car then props to the guy, be happy. For some people money isn't a concern, which is hard to understand for a college student but w/e lol

Where in NJ do you live btw

i wanted a car that was not that common and got around the same gas mileage as my shitty 2006 grand cherokee about 17 city 19 highway...this car does that and more...cant wait im very excited

get and srt 4 if your looking for a fun car i just bought an ion redline and its fun as hell decent on gas *premium* but decent nonthe less

a cobalt ss can be a fun car too
