tell me why this would be a terrible idea

in about 3-4 weeks ill be picking up an ap1500 or an ap1000 so ill have an amp just sitting there doing nothing i also have these little 6 ohm 6.5 in 220 watt sharp speakers just sitting here i was thinking of just wireing them down to 3 ohm putting them in my car as midbass drivers attached to the old amp. would this be a terrible idea? and why?

If it is strictly a mono block, I would not suggest it by any means. If it is a 2 channel (full range amp), then go for it.

these are originally from a set of home audio speakers and yes its a 2 channel amp.

I mean, I really dont see the harm in using them. If they sound good, then great... A lot of speakers/subs are used both in the home setting as well as the car setting.

ill hook them up before hand and see how they sound with the amp if not i guess ill just hold the amp for a rainy day becuase its hardly worth selling.

haha its slightly embarassing now that i have learned a few things but i got it for free its a pb444x 200 watt rms pyramid amp guy i knew gave it to me with two legacy 12" subs a long time ago 4 ohm svc had it wired down to 2 ohms bridged in my old car from 10 years ago that i left at my grandparents found it again about 4 months ago.

oh i just went and looked at the manual says 400 watts bridged but its only got a 15 amp fuse so im guessing its really about 180 bridged or a bit less or wait since its 60 watts @ 4 ohms x2 it couldnt be more than 120 watts bridged... could it?

that 400 is a max ratting so i wouldnt really expect more then like 30-60 x2 rms and maybe 120-180 bridged

if its 60 at 4 ohms and its 2 ohms stable then it would do maybe 60-90 at 2 ohms x2?

You said you wanted to wire them down to 3ohms. This means they would be running in mono. Since midbass is localizable, you want it to play in stereo, not mono. So yes, its not a very good idea. And that is ignoring the problem with getting them mounted in the proper airspace to achieve the alignment necessary for good performance.
