R.I.P. Gossamer!!
Well, Gossamer finally bit the dust.
At 13 years old and having just rolled over 200K miles the little car finally cried "Uncle!" and refused to be used as viable transportation anymore.
The secondhand engine I had installed in the little car last year either developed a rod knock or a main bearing knock. I do not know which it was as I didn't tear into the engine to find out which component specifically was creating the awful sounds which were emanating from under the hood or the critical drop in oil pressure.
For those who don't know Gossamer was a 1995 Geo Prizm with some custom one-off vinyl graphics courtesy of a good friend of mine.

The last night Gossamer was ever at my house before putting away, complaining the entire time, to a local dealership where I'm sure it will do nothing more than be hauled off to auction:
Only barely seen in the pic is the girlfriend-type person while sitting on the trunklid removing my graphics. Those were mine. Nobody else can have them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Also seen is my XXV-01D on the roof after being removed. I took my headunit, my amps, and one of my component sets. I did not feel like going through the trouble of disassembling the rear dash to access the rear component set (I wasn't in a great mood at that point) so that set of M6 comps stayed in the car along with the majority of the wiring I added while owning the car. *big sigh* C'est la vie, I suppose.
Well, my godfather knows someone who's someone at one of our local car dealers and after wringing out a deal where they gave me $1,800 on trade for a 13 year old car with a bad motor (no, that wasn't a typo) and once I have made 48 payments of $239.58 to GMAC Prowler will own this -
2005 GMC Envoy XL. The 4.2L straight-six, while certainly not awe-inspiring, is adequate and gets better mileage than I expected considering the weight of the vehicle. It's much more comfortable than a mid-nineties Corolla clone for my 6'2", 210lb self. The air works astoundingly well.
My only gripe thus far? The OEM audio is, to coin a phrase borrowed from one of my co-workers, donkey-status!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
In other words, it simply sucks. It's only real positive is that is will play burnt discs which would have driven me nuts otherwise since the lion's share of my CD collection is burnt.
