TC Sounds LMS-R 15

It's on it's way to my door as we speak. I haven't been this excited about a sub since I got a Fi Q 12 for Christmas a few years back. I'm ready to annihilate the lows once again.

For those of you that don't know, I owned a Q with 1400 rms before I left car audio for a few years. Eventually I found myself building my way up to a killer setup again. First I owned a 12 IA 187 with 500rms in a sealed box. Then I stepped up to a Fi SSD 12 tuned at 24hz with the same amp. Wow did it get loud down low (sub 35hz). I couldn't get enough of the lows that did nothing but shake my interior. But I still wanted more. More cone area. The MX-3 had the room so I "upgraded" to a DC Level 3 15. Unfortunately, the sub was a complete disappointment. It was so loud around 45-55hz but the notes below 30hz were barely audible.

At that point I realized it was time to get back into the game with a system pushing 1500rms. My goal is to push 20-30hz notes like nobody's business and remain flat and muscial. I did some research and decided to go with a TC Sounds LMS-R 15.

I'm dropping it in a 4 cube box at 24hz since I loved my SSD in a box tuned at the same freq.

Stay tuned for pics and vids of this beast in action.

Thanks for reading.

I have 2 axis's also and they sounded much better tuned at 30 than 22. Hardly any difference below 30hz and much better above 30. That's a different sub though I know

Thanks for the feedback.

Here's a sealed box at the butterworth config, vs the box plan I have in mind. The difference is quite profound. ~5.5 db. difference at 30 hz. and ~4 db. at 20hz.

I may end up building another box tuned higher eventually, but I'm starting very low since my car is tiny. I know the larger the car the more cabin gain you'll get. I don't have that luxury.

looks peaky, just like a ported box should. Doubt if that 4db gain at 20hz is really usable though. Looks cool though, hope you enjoy it. TC does make some good subs even with a wackass owner.

Looks good then, once you go tc sounds you'll never go back..or at least I won't!
So is TC Sounds the black guys of subwoofers?

Explain why it isn't "usable". I've learned a few things about car audio in the past but I've never been schooled in the art of analyzing winisd graphs.

It was my understanding if the curve is higher on sub X vs sub Y at any given frequency, it then sub X will always outperform sub Y at that frequency.

I have a 12" LMS-R.

I had it in 2 cubes ported @ 34hz and it was loud and had tons of SQ.

I just recently put it in a .9 cube sealed box and it sounds even better. Lost a little bit of output but I wanted a small sealed to gain my trunk space back.

The lows are a little more defined in the sealed box, but around 30-40hz the ported box had WAY more output.
