TC-5200 Problems?

someone correct me if im wrong but i think the tinsel leads are supposed to be semi woven (as opposed to being part of the spiders like you were talkin about)
iirc, semi woven gives you the best of both worlds, prevents tensil slap while not compromising spider integrity...

sounds like you had a defective spider or 2
You are correct they are semi-woven in. To the op, you said one coil wasnt reading.. but as long as the leads aren't snapped or the coil isnt blown it should still play fine.
no, he isnt. they are full woven. not tied down.

Hmm, I haven't been around the car audio world long, but when I was looking at subs, the TC-2000 and TC-3000 were close to the top of my list. After seeing how many post there have been about people having problems with their products I am glad I didn't go with them.

You need to understand something, they sound amazing it is a shame that there spiders would be the weak link to such beefy @ss sub! I am going to buy another top end and just hope I had a bad apple and 02ParkAve, have you had any problems you want to add or anything of this nature? Polo..

PS- It is in a 4cf gross, tuned to 35 hz with 40sqin of port, kerfed. Amp is a DD Z1a at 1.5 ohms. The sub was never over powered, not once like I said I didn't get any stink ever cone was always decently cool. BTW I am running my Treo SSX with the same amp, box and power, it is rated at 2500 rms... Polo.

Honestly if you look at the tinesels from top and bottom there isn't much covering them! There are more woven fibers in the spider than in the line where the tinsels run. When the tinsels pulled out it cut the spider in a perfectly straight line. I wonder if I could get it reconed have TC send me a surround, really love that rubber sh!t and have Wayne over at Treo do the rest with there 4" VC's and Kevlar spiders //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Polo...

AHH. Thank you for the correction. By the way they came out it looked as if they were only semi woven. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
no such thing as semi woven.. It is either woven or its not..

tied down. semi woven is a term commonly used (it is the term that i use to describe it.. if brandon (dalucifer) doesnt like it.. tough shit:) .. but.. regardless.. woven looks like this-

this is waht is on the tc5200's.. except in poly cotton, i believe (pictured is nomex)

this is "semi-woven" or "tied down"

(fwiw- this is my favorite type of spider.. no slap, and doesnt damage teh woofers integrity nearly as much as full woven..

sorry for the confusion or miswording..
