what does fully woven do to the integrity of the speaker?

integrity of the spider? it breaks the weave.. best way i can explain it.. over time it can tear out.. like happened here. i dont know if all wovens would do this ( i would assume so) or just tc's.. as a note.. (and please do note.. this is in MY PERSONAL EXPERIANCE ONLY) The tied down leads dont seem to stress as much as the woven. and do not slap like unwoven.. it does in theory still compromise the integrity of the speaker though (although not as much as full woven).

No problem man. That thread you made is very informative. I always thought that semi-woven was the correct term.

tied down. semi woven is a term commonly used (it is the term that i use to describe it.. if brandon (dalucifer) doesnt like it.. tough shit .. but.. regardless.. woven looks like this-

this is waht is on the tc5200's.. except in poly cotton, i believe (pictured is nomex)

this is "semi-woven" or "tied down"

(fwiw- this is my favorite type of spider.. no slap, and doesnt damage teh woofers integrity nearly as much as full woven..

has nothing to do with liking it or not... There is just no such thing as semi woven. There are knits, non wovens and wovens....Even if it is interlacing 3 times across the spider, that is still woven. Just a different type of weave...
