T4-12 Box help

The manual recommends a ported box with like 2cu FT. I'm putting this in a ford ranger with 600w running through it. I'd rather have sound quality than SPL. If I do a solid box instead of vented is this going to help? I know the T4 kinda sucks for SQ to begin with but the whole setup was free. Also if I do like a 1.5cu box will it hurt that much? This is a daily driver not competetion

you can still maintain nice sq with a vented box. not sure what that sub requires for a sealed size, but the larger you go the more low end you will get. not necessarly for spl, but just to get nice full range of low end. i'd still go with ported and build to achieve a nice flat response.

don't do it! i did a t4-12 install for my sister, and i did ~3ft sealed box, and it is crap. that sub doesn't like sealed boxes...AT ALL! i would recommend a ported box tuned low, i had it in my box for a day or two (making sure it was all good;) )it was 7ft @ 25hz, and it did pretty good. i know you cant fit 7 ft...but ported is the only way to go w/ this sub.
