T-Line help for my 12" LA storm

So I've been looking into doing a T-line for my 12" LA storm x1. I'm going to be doing a straight through design, to tapering (my first t-line, keeping it simple). My dilemma is I'm not sure on how much port area I need, do I go by the subs cone area alone, or by the cone area and 1/2 of the surround as well? The cones diameter on this sub is only 7.5" due to the huge surround. So if I go by that need about a ~44sq inch port. Now if I include 1/2 the surround, about another 2", I end up needing about ~71sq of port. That's the difference between it fitting in my trunk and not! Anyone know which is the proper way?

Also, anyone know the T/S for this sub? I think the QTS is 0.36 and the FS is 29hz? model x1.12.2.

Interesting idea! Might be the first time I've seen anyone discuss using a transmission line enclosure in a car.

Are they more popular then I think?

I need to make sure it's going to fit though first, it's going in the trunk of a 98' grand prix and they have crappy trunk openings. If this doesn't fit I might just do an Aperiodic-Membrane box, but who knows.

I believe the theory is to have the pipe's cross sectional area about equal to that of the driver right?

The cross section is suppose to be equal to the subs SD (cone area). So If I went by that I would only need a measly 44.16 inches of port. I've read so many different explanations that I can't tell what's the truth and whats crap. I was just trying to figure out the 122 because 6x6x3.14=113.04
