System using Stock Head Unit??

I'm building my first system:

MMATS 6.5 Components

MMATS 6x9

x2 Shallow Mount Subs (not sure on brand)

1000W JBC Amp

600 4-ch Kenwood Amp

I'm building this as a stealth system; this includes keeping the stock head unit.

I've heard that to run my stock unit I will need a LOC, but that the quality of sound will degrade. Anyone have recommendations on how to set this up so I do not degrade sound quality?

Honestly its not worth it. Just buy a nice head unit. The line out converters are a pain to work with and who ever told you they degrade sound they are right. I am much happier with my kenwood deck.

The reviews on the units mentioned above were pretty positive...even @ $500 for one of those, the sound would actually degrade versus a nice headunit?

My big thing is sound quality...i'm going for the MMATS Components for that reason; is it a waste to buy such nice speakers and then hook up an LOC to the stock HU?

On a side note - all the advice has been great, thank you for responding.

If your going SQ you will need to spend some money on a nice HU with time alignment.
