Ok my friends system just got installed and is the same way

So how do i go about turning down the gains

and when i do what does this do to the subs does it turn the bass down or something or how does it affect the subs?

and on my friends amp he has the extra bass knob thing but he doesnt have the wire to plug it into the amp and its like a phone cord plug in but has more little prongs in it anywhere i can buy a wire for it?

I got it fixed...I set the LP filter to 24dB instead of 12dB and that toned it down.

... in addition to turning down your bass.... dont let BEST BUY install a stereo in the first place... hahaha... Unless you have the cash to pay someone to do it right, then do it yourself, all you ever really need is some screwdrivers, soldering gun, and some connectors and crimpers...

It is not HARD to install car audio, you just need to do it, instead of thinking about how hard it is...

not all goodness/greatness is measured in pure, sloppy SPL. sure you could get one or more subs that wouldbe as loud or louder for the price, but who cares.
