System Observations...

Hey all! I drove up to my local gas staion yesterday enjoying my system feeling rather smuck, and observed the following: A. While getting fuel and car slowly passed by me and this guy was bee bopping his sub. It rattled the trunk so bad it sounded like it was ready to explode. All in all it sounded hidious. B. When I pulled up to go pay for this overpiced fuel we use another guy was jamming too. This one sounded alot different but still a tad anoying. I could tell he had good stuff and his car didn't seem like it was going to fall apart. lol. OK sq guys, is car A what we are after. Humm..... A few weeks ago, I started making plans to finally add a 12' sub to my system. Don't need it for volume because my system will already make my ears bleed. lol Bass enhancement only. I don't want my car to sound anything like car A Will getting a sub do this or can I enjoy it without all the rumble in the jungle effect?? just sound deaden your trunk with like dynamat or some other brand and get a lower wattage sub, like an image dynamics 10" or something if you like sq.

A lot of it has to do with where you place the subwoofer. If you set it up so that it fires directly into the cabin, sealed off from the trunk, in a sealed enclosure....obviously you won't get any trunk rattle

If you just do the typical sub in trunk, then yes...you'll probably get some rattling. And, sound deadener (great deadener HERE) can help drastically with that.

Also depends on the vehicle. My car had almost no trunk rattle, even without any deadener. Just the design of the trunk.

Would definately go with a sealed box if you are looking for SQ mainly. Not to over-generalize but sealed = SQ, ported = SPL. Not that sealed won't "wang", I must be getting old because I feel stupid saying that word, it just won't rattle your trunk as much s ported will.
