was trying out a few things. first of all there is no way to run 1 channel without it being bridged. but that doesn't matter- i eventually unplugged the sub wires and just turning the car on like that and it still goes into protect mode. protect mode without a sub connection, is that normal? i checked power and ground and they are fine. no idea!!!

interesting thing though, when i first started analyzing my car and right when i turned it on in the very beginning everything was fine. with the sub connected and it was working. i was messing with settings to find the right sound, and it sounds so weak. my stock door speakers hit harder than this sub. a lot of pple are saying how 300watts would blow the sub, but having the gain less than half and having the bass in HU 0 - you can't feel nor hear the sub at all...it's like it's not even on. but anyways, after about 15minutes of messing with settings, it suddenly randomly went into protect mode and just stopped working again. this is when i decided to unplug the speaker wires, but it still goes into protect mode

help!!!

I hate to say it, but it's looking like your amp is in need of repair. Is it still under warranty?

One last thing you can try. Take the amp out, and hook it directly up to your battery with two new wires. Nothing else plugged into it. If it still goes into protect, I don't think there's anything else you can do.

yes under warranty i bought it new about a month ago. i'm just concerned why it would suddenly decide to work then stop working...

just checked fuse and it's good. when i was going to check the fuse, amp was fine. no protect mode. plugged in sub. was good for about 5min then back into protect mode

find someone with another amp to swap in and test.....if it fails as well then chase the wiring....if it works then I would say you have a dud amp....GL though

that's my ideal plan. my friend said he might have an amp i can try. if with another amp still doesn't work, then it's wiring. if it works fine, then its the amp's problem

i'm back with bad news. hooked up another amp, no go. immediately sets itself in protect mode. my friend and i then did a thorough analysis of the entire setup. first of all we know that neither the speaker wire nor RCA wires can be causing this so we had those disconnected- we are left with power, ground, and remote wire. we decided to call a friend of ours who use to own his own shop...

for the remote wire we disconnected the original wire and had a short wire we used to directly tap into the power. this way, if it did work there would be something wrong with the remote wire. nothing. still sets itself in protect mode

next for the ground, we changed grounding location to a different location even though the original worked fine. nothing. still sets itself in protect mode

for the power wire, we know it works, because at least the amp is lighting up red. if it was receiving no power at all nothing would light up. even so, we changed the power wire fuse three times. nothing. still sets itself in protect mode

all of my friends are confused. we did everything we know...ideas? both were tried with 2 amps and no go for both

took it to car toys they are charging me $180 for undoing and redoing everything. i talked to the service guy for awhile and he said for $50 he will check all the wiring but even he agrees i have done everything i can and he will just be redoing what i have already done

got my car back. the problem was poor connections to everything. ground location was fine, but connection poor. ring terminal to battery poor, LOC connection poor and swaped. wiring was all good and he used my original wires, what was changed were the rings and clamps. i guess it can kinda be expected, the amp kit didn't have everything we needed and when we went to stores to find rings and clamps we couldn't find 8ga so bought 10ga and used a plier to make it fit...guess that was a terrible idea. paid $150 for everything
