First off, I'd like to say AWSOME site and forums you guys have here always some good reading and I have to say the Big 3 tutorial was a HUGE help on my Honda Civic (R.I.P.).

I now own a 2000 GMC Jimmy which I wanna install my system in this is where I need advice. I know that Rockford Fosgate isn't very popular around here from what I've read in the past, but that is what I have and kinda stuck with at the moment. Here is what I have:

Subs:

2 x Rockford Fosgate Power HX2 Series 12's (RFR3112) in the box never used.

Box:

Subzone Z Series Box

Amps:

2 x Rockford Fosgate Power 1000bd amps (Mono)

500x1 watts RMS continuous power into 4 Ohms

1000x1 watts RMS continuous power into 2 Ohms

Wires:

STINGER 0 GA Amp Kit

Misc Plans:

Big 3 (0 GA), Optima Yellow in front...

Here is what I wanna know, I've had people tell me to get a 1 farad cap for each amp, then I have hade people tell me 1 cap will work for both amps. What do you guys recommend. Also, if you have any ideas on how the best way to wire these 2 subs and hook them to the amp for best sound. Thanks in advance....

well we generally dont like the new rockford fosgate stuff, but thats some good older shit you got there. those power hx2's pound. and like rocky said no cap, start with a battery and if you still need some more juice get a better alternator.

No cap at all? WOW, thats a first. You think the Yellow Top and the Big 3 upgrade will be enuff?
needing a cap to fix electrical problems is the biggest noob myth ever. all they do on a struggling electrical system is add one more component to charge, worsening it.

Yea x2 on the newer Fosgate stuff... I love the old school stuff looks and preformance wise. The big 3 should provide enough electrical output, so you wont need the caps. Make sure you build a good front stage b/c those woofers are bad ***.

P.S. I got a center cap for those amps for sale. It connects the two amps to make it look like one huge amp =) LMK

hey are in the car audio myspace group? ive seen that pic with ur stuff wearing hats on their before

Yeah all the other guys just about covered it. And like they said the rockford stuff you have is some good equipment, those Power HX2s are some sick subs that get crazy loud in the right box. Also like they said no cap, it won't help one bit, just take your time and install everything right the first time...Hide wires, Secure wires, good grounding points, secure your amps, secure your box, and make sure all your connections are tight. The only other advice I can offer up is eventually you might want to look into either making your own speaker box, or getting someone else to build you one, that way you can let those HX2s shine
