Copper is copper. Two runs of 4ga has more capacity than a single run of 2ga. But usually people just have two runs of wire because they started off with one, and simply added a second when they upgraded their power drain.this is also a noob question lol. not mine tho. My friend asked me whats the differences from running 2 4ga power wires from batt through 150a anl fuse blockand then to the amp from just running one run of 2 gauge? i couldnt really answer the question for him needless to say. i have seen ppl at comps running multi 0 ga wires from batt to amp. so i thought i would ask?
oh, and just because that's what it says it puts out, doesn't mean that is what you are seeing. it will only put out based on what you feed it. there is no such thing as free watts. basic pysics/ high school science. "energy is only converted"ok i see. i was just wondering. how that would work. if it would carry current like a bigger wire. i have a stinger alum power wire 4 g right now. the box said it would take 2k watts current i dont know how true but it took my saz 2000d and never melted the wire and the amp was doing about 2300 rms @ 1 ohm. so i was doin pretty good IMO. And i have another run of the same wire just laying around. so thats like a total of 4k current. theres no way thats not enough for that amp.
