System in Ford Ranger (Electrical Suggestions)

Ok I am about to put a Memphis 1500d and about a 250 watt mids/highs amp in a 2004 4.0 Ford Ranger. It has stock alt, and battery. What I am wondering is, is what kind of electrical upgrade should I do to handle these amps? I know that the owner wants to replace his ALT, but I am curious how big of an alternator and what kind of battery(s) he needs to get. Thanks for any help.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

A solid 180 amp or higher alt, and there are a couple of ways to upgrade the battery. Personally I would replace the one under the hood with an HC1800 and put a HC1200 or bigger in back. It would be pretty solid all around no matter how he wanted to listen to it. If you go with just a battery and too small of an alt you are asking for a dead battery or blown amplifiers/speakers. The two main ways to kill a battery are undercharging it (which can be a slow death) or over charge them which cooks them.

Thanks man. Yeah I know Kinetic makes good batteries. Another guy I know from here said a 250 amp alternator and two group 31 batteries would be good, but that seems like overkill. Any more opinions from anyone?
