System In Battery Dead

So i have a 97 grand prix 180k miles on it. Just put a system in and 4th day having it hooked up battery dies while driving. I checked and the wiring from my amp is hooked up to a fuse relay box and not the battery could this be the cause of this?

what condition is the battery? old ? will it take a charge? load test it?

How does your batter die while driving...

Your alt would keep the car running. Check your alt...

No.

It would only limit current to the amp.

just hook your power wire directly to the amp. like it should be anyways...then drive around and see what happenes. even if your system drained the battery 100% your alt should keep the car running (that is what the ALT does)

Go get your self a DVM and test the voltage with the car off and the car on.

With the car on it should be around 14volts.

Yes, your amp should be connected directly to the battery with a in line fuse in between. Normally up close to the battery.

No, having it connected to a fuse box in the vehicle will not drain or harm the battery. But running low voltage will.

It doesn't matter. Are you listening.

The cause of your dead battery is not due to how the amp is connected. You need to charge or replace it then take it to a professional.

Do not take it back to the crack heads who installed your system unless you're asking for your drugs back.

Of course if your amp's REM wire isn't connected to a cut off source and it's always on...

Then that WILL drain your battery.

Of course if this is the case it would be nice if you could mention it.
