I just found out that my speakers are 700 watts R.M.S what does that mean?? lol and is that good/bad?
Well it sounds like you're trying to push subs with an RMS rating of about 700 watts total with an amp thats only pushing 400 watts. Speakers generally need to meet their rms wattage to operate at an acceptable efficiency. If they don't get the required power its like trying to tow a horse trailer with a pinto.ahh ok, i have 2 Audiobahn 12" Dual 4 Ohm 700 watts and my amp is a new Rockford Fosgate 401s, 4Ohms - 100 watts X 2, 2 ohms 200 watts X 2, 4ohms 400 watts X 1
Come on man. I'm trying to keep it simple. Sure you can get sound, and sometimes its not that bad, but it reminds me of when I sold my 12W6's to my friend. I was powering them with a PPI A1200 (1200x1@4) he powered them with an MTX 4160 amp which gave each woofer about 55 watts on a 300 watt RMS. Did it still sound good? Yes of course it did, but it was nothing compared to being pushed by the 1200.i say your analogy is flawed.
Subs can be underpowered, so long as it doesn't clip or distort.
Subs can stillr each xmax with half thier rated RMS, depending on what kind of encli\osure or perhaps, without an enclosure at all.
Also, when you say pinto, you mean a car? If yes, then well, cars tend to have more than one horsepower.
I agree. This is very good advise. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gifHey, you're in a forum to ask. It's the right thing to do.
If anything, I advise you to ask more about anything that you might be curious about. Not only me, but someone else is bound to help you out more and more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
