**************PLEASE HELP ... LAST TIME...... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif *********************

Hey guys, I think im going to take alot of people advice and take the money I was going to spend on 2 JL 12 W7's and spend them on 2 12" Brahmas. They really do seem like an amazing sub, even more capable then the W7 with greater value. My question for u audioheads are as follows. 1) im getting the Brahmas for SQL... I hear they are great for this application. I need to know what box should i throw them in taking under consideration i want SQL. 2) Originally i was going to take the great offer on THEZEB.com and buy the Orion XTR Pro 2400 for the w7's. The amp does 1200 x 1 @ 4 Ohm

2400 x 1 @ 2 Ohm. Will this amp take my brahmas to the level of performance i expect? I really want them to be in optimum wattage range. No need to sheist them.

Im pretty stoked on the money im saving from the Jl's to the Brahmas. I will now be able to upgrade from MB quart 5.25's to Diamond Audio S500's 5.25's. I have heard nothing but great things about the DA s500's but does anyone have anything to add? Again, thanks alot for all the help the forum has given me regarding these choices.

What made you choose the Brahma's over the W7's? The only reason I can think of is money. That's the reason I opted for the Brahma.

If you want an optimally flat response, then a sealed box w/ an air space of 3cuft per sub would be good, and allow you to feed them 1200W a piece if you choose to. If you want more low end, port, tune to 30hz.

Money was surely an issue. Now like i said I can upgrade to Diamond Audio Components rather than Mb Quart. Uhhh, also , by the likes of some other regulars on here, brahma with the right power can outdue W7's. Like i said, ive kinda taken this from many posts that the brahma not to exclude a few others are the IT for SQL.

If anyone disagrees, please tell me pro's and cons between brahma 12's and W7 12's with the 2400 watt amp going to them. OTHER THAN MONEY

make sure you take into account how much power this will drain from ur car. its possible that ull need a new alternator. for an amp, maybe go with 2 JBL bp1200.1s? thats probably the amount of power you want for each sub

The car is BMW 96 M3. Anyone know anything about alternators and such. I was told that a good cap. would most likely suffice. I think the Xtr Pro2400 Orion is better than that of the JBL amps... JBL is littler cheaper though. PRO CONS? Orion is a subsidiary of PPI amps. Im really hoping i dont have to put an alternator in the car. Which would mean more cost etc etc. HELPPPP

MORE IMPORTANTLY I ASK THIS. WILL I NOTICE A SOUND DIFFERENCE between that of 2 1200 JBL's or the 1 Orion 2400. With the JBL i would save cash and in the end put towards alternator or some shit

Personally I think those XTR Pro amp are right on the money. I have heard so many of those amps and every single one has impressed me. As far as a cap goes, it won't help much as far as current flow goes. If you plan on running 2400 watts without an alternator that can handle the major amperage draw, be prepared to sacrifice a lot of power throughout your electrical system.

AS we all know, BMW have somewhat extensive electrical systems.... Meaning, i will not sacrifice power to my electricals... Where should i look for an alternator to fit the job of this setup...........

Alpince Cda 7894

Orion Xtr Pro2400

powering 2 12" Brahmas

Diamond Audio s500's 5.25 "

powered by Us amp 300x2 (i think ... to lazy to look at numbers)

OVER ALL HOW DO U THINK THIS SYSTEM WILL PERFORM?

3 cubic ft per sub sealed? Are you sure that's right? The reccommened sealed box size for a 12" brahma is between 0.7 and 1.5 cubic ft...
if what I'm thinking is right, with 1200 watts going to each sub, the optimal sealed box size would be around 1 cu ft each...I think, heh I'm still kinda inexperienced with this type of thing.

I thought along ur lines as well Lockout. 3 ft per sounds very big. Can anyone help me out with the alternator status, and how the system will sound ?

answering the pm...

you will, beyond a doubt, need a deep cycle batt. also, to run that setup to its fullest potential you will need a new alt, probably one around 150amps or higher(at idle). all wiring is already at 4awg (yeah bmw) so no worries there. there will be serious dimming if you bump it hard, but i think you will be ok for the time being.

i run only 500W to my subs and i am pretty happy with the output. so i think if you want to add a 1Farad cap (rule is 1farad per 1000W but you dont have the electrical system to do a 2 farad) then it will help with big bass hits. you can install it all and run it no problem, but you just can't max everything out until you get a new alt.

i think you will be happy. if you get the setup you talked about, then you have all the right components for an amazing system. however, you can't use it all due to power issues. personally i think this is the best posistion to be in. most of us like to upgrade to bigger and louder things. all you will need to do to upgrade is buy a new alt, rather than a whole new setup.

i think the W7 will be better in a SQL setup than the brahma, but that is forgetting about the cost. the real question is, is it $400 per sub better? for a man on a budget, i think not.

hope this helped.

W7 is *slightly* louder, and has better SQ. Maintains linearity at high excursion levels better. Remember BL is a function of motor strength, it does not indicate how well a speaker hits transients.

In my experience the JBL's are too muddy to use with a driver of this calibre (W7 or Brahma)

3cuft yeilds a Qtc of 0.707

Don't waste your money on a capacitor. Get a beefed up alternator. Capacitor's should be used for aesthetic purposes, if ever at all, IMO. Go with the Orion, it is a better amp. More reliable fets.
