sundowns any good?

well its a local shop that told me this. they do mostly lanes, so i guess thats why?

anyways, they didnt bash on sundown completely, but they did say sundown wasnt any good and that their boards were all cheap boards brought over from china and then just moded a bit and then put the sundown name on it. they mentioned that sundowns arent efficient at all, and that their okay amps for the money, but i could do a lot better

like i said, personally ive had great experience with sundown and jacob (thanks a ton jacob!) he's been extremely helpful each time ive contacted him and helped me get my first sundown up and running after i was having a lot of problems.

i only run an sae 1200, so i guess all you saz users are getting more power and more out of your amps than i am. i dont need any more power than what a sae can give me or else id definitely wouldve gone with a saz. they look much sexier and have better specs. (there should be a saz model in between the 1000 and 1500, i guess thats what the sae is for, and it only makes sense to jump from 1000 to 1500, but 1500 in my case, on my stock electrical, is too much). my sae has yet to fail me, im on a stock electrical and actually, when i get to low on voltage my sae keeps going and my full range amp is the one thats goes out (its not sundown)

and yeah sundown is definitely not low like that. (k_schutte)

You can't take anything a local shop says for any worth 90% of the time. Just yesterday I was at a local shop buying ring terminals for my 2/0 welding cable and he tried to tell me that my 2/0 gauge welding cable would have more resistance than his "audio specific" 0 gauge cable he had in store. I couldn't help but chuckle.

usually they are trying to push what they sell. sundown makes great stuff...........

We have addressed the "Made in China" part already...

Now lets address the "not efficient" part... I'm guessing your area doesn't have alot of MECA events. Well... we are really big in MECA. Why is that you might ask ? Well... they run on limited fusing for class designation so they need the most power with the lowest amp draw. That = efficiency.

Care to share the name of the shop and the person you talked to ? You can PM me.

FYI guy who said "I prolly got spanked by Sundown". my BTL18/Z1 smoked a sundown setup at the most recent comp. He was running a pair of SAZ-3K's and a pair of NS15's IIRC... same exact vehicle too even, he managed a 144~ and I threw up a 150.2 both in Dodge Durango's. His was done by a shop and he said he had about $4K~ in his setup, I have about $2k~ in mine and I did it myself. Now had his system been setup right I think he would have beat me. I love SD amps, and actually purchased my Z1 from Jacob. I have run SD and love it, I also love AQ and now I am a big Fi fan as well. I have run pretty much every decent brand out there at some point.

Whoever told you that shit is just plane stupid. Sundown is awesome shit and Jacob seems like an awesome guy and I have never heard anythin bad about customer service either. I mean, no ones customer service will ever quite match the awesomeness of RD's but pretty good none the less LOL

About the shop telling you there shit is better... Of course they will say that, they don't make money unless they sell you their shit and I assume they aren't a SunDown dealer so... I had a local shop give me shit about my HDC315/MM4000.1D setup because they had never heard of those brands. They had a JL setup that was literally about 10x the cost of mine and I put up about 4db more than they did and they where in a higher class as well. Needless to say the guy was pissed that he had his shop logo all over the car and got smoked by about 80% of the people there. INCLUDING the CRX that had a pair of wal-mart Pioneer 10"s and a Pioneer "800 watt" amp. LOL
