could very well be the source signal quality from that sony head unit along with gain settings, Since the amp is overrated, you cant really rely on the DMM method, there's a method I found out about that I really like which is as close to an oscilloscope for basically pennies.

has to be a piezo but yeah either DD-1 or oscope your head unit and see whats the clipping point.

biggest upgrade to my system's overall sound was the head unit. Gave me the best sound quality vs trying out a crap ton of expensive mid tier speakers

i own a 97-03 body style grand prix... had a ton of different set ups in it... the trunk opening is a pita to get a big box in.. currently running a icon 15 ported on a at 1200.1 w/ yellow top in spare tire well.

If You decide to go the guard route, opt for night shift. Not a lot of people want to work nights. Worked for me when I started 25 years ago, and still works for me now, even get a 1.05 shift differential. I work armed security now, for the second largest power provider in the country. I worked security on graveyard shift for a few years back then. It totally destroyed my sleeping schedule. Even now, my day and night cycles are still outta wack. I'd avoid it long term at all costs, insomnia's a b*tch now.

Ok yea i recommended a crunch 1500 because he asked to a amp under 150 bucks... like i said nothin but forum dudes. Its called a smartphone, doesnt take much effort to swype a paragraph. A CT sounds at 400.1 would put out more power then that crunch easily. Clean power is different from distorted power.

stay off the youtubeness.. dude i had a blue crunch 1500 and a crunch prza 1500 and it pushed out around 1100 watts. Im not talking about junk v-drive amps, jbl??? 1500??? Naaa the maxx is better for the price. Buying a crunch amp for 140 bucks will power a pair of average subs fine

Never put one in from behind seat opening..... Look into an alpines cde147/148/149 decks.. Have you decided on a sub(s) yet?? I think you'd be happy with a single 15. It's what ive ran the last four or so years. No competition just daily music
