Sundown SAZ2000D Presale.

Based on the 100s of people running 1500s and 3000s at 1/2 ohm -- you are unlikely to have an issue. Even though you aren't covered by the free replacement warranty you do have this:
http://www.sundownaudio.com/warranty.html

"1) If your amplifier has a blown power supply or damage from excessive vibration there will be a charge for a warranty replacement within the 2-year policy:

* SAZ-1500D and smaller amplifiers (or any future model under 2000 watts) - $30 in the continental USA (AK and HI add $15)

* SAZ-2000D and SAZ-3000D (or any future model 2000 - 3000 watts) - $50 in the continental USA (AK and HI add $20)"

So for 50 bucks you can get the amp replaced assuming it is not beat all to heck -- it is pro-rated a bit if the amp looks like it was dragged behind your car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You will get over 2000 watts at 1/2 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Derrick and Gary on Team Sundown have been testing it for months so I'm sure they would be willing to share their results.

PS: Not sure if you saw my above... but we are working on a 2 ohm amp -- nothing regulated for multiple loads like the JL, though.

Ok thanks for the info, currently i am running kicker zx1500 since its a solid amp for 2 ohm load and does more than rated power and not a bad price tag. Just wish mine didnt get so **** hot and it has plenty of voltage doesnt drop that bad at all even when staying above 13.5 its really hot. No internal fans i guess. Do you install fans in your amps or is there no need and they run cool.

Thanks for the awesome answers as well man

Our amps run pretty cool - the heat-sink is very thick on them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif We do not use fans.

thick alu isnt the best way of getting rid of heat. tall thin fins on the sink to give more surface area is best. class D's dont get that hot normally...
The new case works out quite nicely - we didn't just make it thicker - there are 10mm tall fins under the face of the amp and some extra fins on the sides.

The original case really never had any thermal issues to begin with, though - I primarily wanted the new case for future, larger, Class A/B amps. I also did not want to completely change the look of our amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If we do another complete revision I may try to work in some bigger external fins - but I am pretty happy with the performance we get out of the casing now.

* New Case internal fins

* Older case had no internal fins and had fewer fins on the sides - the thick aluminum segment under the FETs was also 10mm thinner

Indeed - should I put you down for 10 ? *laughs*
