Sundown sa-8 opinions

You will be left wanting more going from a 12 to an 8. Find a nice SQL oriented sub that is nice and efficient so you don't need a lot of space. Some companies that come to mind are first; tc sounds, Fi, RD, eD etc....

I wouldn't go from a 12" type R to a Sundown SA-8 unless there is an issue with space..and I have a SA-8 btw and its great.. the 12 has twice the cone area though and type r's aren't that bad

so maybe i will just keep my type -r and get a bigger amp for it when i get my componets for up front. My issue with the type-r is i feel like im missing some frequencys i feel it should be picking up better particulary the lower ones. I had a mb quart reference series before this( you know the all black ones with inverted suround made by fosgate for mbq) anyways and it was awesome on the lows and sound quality was better untill it blew the voice coil. I loved that sub!

reconing is your friend

If that sub was reconable i would do it in a heartbeat. i still have it in the garage. It ran for about 2 months and died, bought it from woofers ect as overstock and they wouldnt warranty it because they say i abused it , but offered to sell me another one for $40 bucks after i paid like $90 for it the first time. These were $300 subs when they came out, sucker plays down to 18hz

it would be cheaper just to swap it out for a SA-12. cheaper than 2 SA-8's, more cone area, and you don't need to build another box. of course, building a custom box for the sa-12 would be ideal.
