I have a 1 cubic foot sealed box with polyfill and its siliconed and braced with 1x1's also the sub it T-nutted with 8 mm allen bolts all around. 3/4 inch mdf.

Put that alpine in a 1.5 ported tuned to the mid 30s 600RMS and it will wake up.

Atleast thats what mine did. I got the 600RMS model, gen 4 I think

I was thinking about giving it a 2 cubic foot box tuned to 34hz and using a mbquart ONX1.1000D to power it @ 1 ohm wich will have 1000w rms available.Of course i would turn the gain down quite a bit.

I guess it would be cheaper than buyin a new sub. for the most part i like it i'm just afraid it wont do as good on the heavy rock stuff anymore after i port it. I have no doubt rap will be louder after porting. I have heard these do good in bigger boxes and i printed out 2 plans for the above box, so i guess i will try it out. Is it possible that my amp would not be letting it hit hard enough low or the fact im only giving it about 300 w rms right now?

They still sound great

I download that new track from Korn and Skrillex and it really hits all the cords. And the kick drum is wicked

Do you think for the money that amp would be good to power it? I have a discuss 2150 i am powering it with now that will be changed to power my componets , no complaints in the 3 years i have owned it. Althogh im not scared of trying something else.

if you somehow blow the sa 8, then send it to splaudio for a recone so itll handle 600+

I was going to ask what is wrong with the type r. That is a good all around woofer in the right box. I have heard people make them loud and I have also heard them play in a sq systems. Just put it in the right box. Unless it is dead, spend the hundred or more bucks on something else in your system.
