Sundown SA-12 Too much bass

lol, no, what type of music do you listen to, I think you need to make some adjustments and you will be fine.

Rap mostly. Maybe the bass from Sundown is too low for my taste which is why I was asking to see what subwoofer would fit me. I want bass that's not too over powering and won't rattle my whole car

you could also try a sealed box, that might be more your taste, cheaper then new sub and box

^^^ lol @C1500martin ........... turn your gain up close to 9v, your subsonic filter to 35hz, your lowpass 3/4 way to 250hz, and see what that does.

yeah you are definitely a kicker in a prefab box guy. No vehicle flex or rattle with that setup. Cheaper built subs will get you the upper midbass punch you like and offer very little car flexing lows. Or you can redo the box and tune to 35-42hz

My brother has a kicker 12 compd at 2 ohms in a prefab at about 400 watts and he loves it for what it is.

So i think this guys issue is that his bass is over powering his stock speakers and so he thinks his bass is "too much"

Get a quality amp and some good aftermarket speakers. Your bass wont drown out your songs anymore.

Drop your gain to zero and slowly turn it up until the bass no longer over powers the vocals.

and the reason your getting so much flac is because were all bassheads here and you saying you dont have enough bass is well...blasphemy.

No such thing as too much bass.

Are you using a stock head unit? Try turning the bass down on head unit it will still be plenty. In my Mini I always had the bass settings set below 0 usually at -2 and was still more than enough for every day but with plenty of head room to flex the system if wanted. Try a sealed box you may like that better.

Sell subs. Get an under seat sub or get some good mid bass drivers up front. Punchy with no more rattles. Realistically though you should just track down all your rattle points and dynamat those, don't forget to check for license plate rattle too. Just crank it up and get in your trunk and back seat and listen and feel around for where the source of rattles are.

That "deep punch" you're looking for is called bass fisting. Most people on here are into loud and low. Try diyma or caco and ask what sub and box will give you the best fisting and someone there can help you out. Someone might even have a box design for the sa to get you fisting.
