Sundown SA-12 or Image Dynamics ID12v3?

How well is.the sq on the sundowns? I dont want boomy like "kickers" but I love getting loud but want.a sq/musical sub.
The data I've posted tells you most of what you need to know -- "SQ" is defined as faithfully reproducing the material by having low distortion; the SA does this quite well. It's more known as a loud / rugged sub because it can do those things very well; but as the data show it's also a low distortion driver.

Me thinks a pair of Sundowns (from my reasearch, I have no experience) would thrive more in ported boxes with a little more power than that, or build a nice single 12 ported box and throw that whole amp to it. For a pair sealed, you may want to look for subs rated 400-500 watts RMS each and do best sealed. A pair of Boston G3s, JBL Power series (14 5'8" basket rims though), JBL GTO series, RE Sr/x, the IDs you've mentioned, etc. comes to mind for mainstream brands.

i'd go with the SA12. it's more compareable to the IDQ and since your lookin for mainly SQ that's the way you'd want to go. while the ID is a decent sub it's more loud then SQ. and this is from an Eric Stevens ID junkie. not the new junk they sell..

oh ya for wat it's worth i know someone who's ran both the ID and the SA and the SA are a better choice says him.

Other things being equal, I would take the subwoofer with lower inductance. I just switched from a RE SRX12 to Infinity Kappa 120.9w sub, my first low inductance sub (1.12mH?). They have similar price, specs, etc, but Kappa's bass "texture" seems to be more robust, more detailed, resulting IMO in a more pleasant sound. Blending with the front stage is much easier because low inductance subs reportedly can play into mid bass frequency fairly transparently.

However, other things are usually not equal. A more important consideration is the price and also the constraints imposed by the box setups. I'd say look into that first. Among two fine subs, one does not necessarily have to sound better than the other one. They can just sound different.

Well, after reading reviews on other forums, it seems to be that the sa12 is more spl sub that is best uaed in ported boxes. Idk if thats the truth, and I know opions are different. What I am trying to achieve is sq/sql. I liked my old kicker cvrs for the loudness, but I want to enjoy the bass. Something cleaner, more enjoyable, and to be more ,usical. But want that loudness. If that makes any sense.

here is more evidence pertaining to the case of "SA vs ID".. SA-12 ftw

and for those who are bringing up the Dayton HO which seems to be a pretty good sub.. I am no expert on them but I have read their sensitivity is low and he would probably want more power for them
