I haven't kept up with the whole thread, but I'll be looking at getting one of these likely. For the price, it's good - and it'll go well with my amplifier. Especially since my old school JL's are dead on me. Just have to get my old speakers sold - and I'll be able to send along a payment for one.
Question - for the lower end response, aiming for SQL, should I go ahead and go ported? I want a deep response, but I still want a good bass response in the upper ranges (not mid-bass, but arond 100-150hz), considering my front stage sucks, and can't be upgraded due to several reasons.

I'm debating on whether to go sealed or ported.

run them ported and they drop pretty low. Keeps up with Jeezy's put on pretty well. Dont be afraid to port them. Mine are around 33hz in 1.3 cu ft.

Awesome - I'm not sure exactly when I can get one, but I'm thinking pretty soon.

Wish I had more money. I'd get a bigger system than a single 8".

Ha, I wish - I'm selling off two kenwood 6x9's, hoping to get as much as I can, so I can afford these.

Of course - I could afford multiples, if I didn't spoil a girl I know. They're a bit on the expensive side. But ehh, priorities.

But, I definitely would if I could. Two would be ideal, as my amp could power those, and my car has built in amplifiers for the rest of the speakers.

can be used as midbass but dont have much high end response. The fs is in the 30hz range since they were intended for low end.

We use em' up to 200 Hz in a vehicle for midbass.
