I had wanted to buy a set, to use mainly for mid bass to keep up with my 18" re sx

but I have read that they only realley respond from # to 350hz.

is this true ?

as I would want a 8" sub that can play hz notes all the way up in mid bass range.

is there any way to alter these subs to play in the upper hz range ?

The motor structures on these were designed for lower end response. I can not do much to alter the frequency range to be more responsive outside the recommended range. You might be able to squeeze a bit more range out with the right enclosure but you dont want to choke the subs either.

The enclosure is a little bigger than spec but shouldnt be too bad.

I haven't kept up with the whole thread, but I'll be looking at getting one of these likely. For the price, it's good - and it'll go well with my amplifier. Especially since my old school JL's are dead on me. Just have to get my old speakers sold - and I'll be able to send along a payment for one.

Question - for the lower end response, aiming for SQL, should I go ahead and go ported? I want a deep response, but I still want a good bass response in the upper ranges (not mid-bass, but arond 100-150hz), considering my front stage sucks, and can't be upgraded due to several reasons.

I'm debating on whether to go sealed or ported.
