Sundown 3000D vs. Incriminator Audio 40.1

ive dealt with 4 or 5 different amps from 3-6k and all of them did pull current. the 4k has been known to pull current alot more as well than any other amp. again im just looking thoughts, i dont want to start any arguements, none of these are my accusations either.

and alot of people have called sundown very efficient amps. i could find proof but it would take forever with all the sundown threads on every board.

alot of replies to posts about the amps goes like this "they are very efficient amps!"

and the 20.1 and 40.1 have been called current hogs and i dont know if there are tests to abck either one, again just stating.

jeff sanford has tested both the d3500.05 and the IA 20.1

wish they had a sundown one

I ran my 20.1 full tilt on a stock alt, single run of 4g wire, a single deka 31, all on an 80a maxi fuse. Never got a single dim and never blew that fuse. I went to a sundown 3k after that and turned it up about half way. Blew the 80a fuse right quick so i installed a 100a one. I get dims now in my car. Im going to get rid of my 3k's and move up to a 40.1 but ill be adding a 250a alt and running it at .5. Thats my expeirience with the two companys, sorry i cant compare with the 40.1

Edit: Both amps were ran at 1ohm.

But you are also talking bout a 2200 watt amp (20.1) to well over 3k watt amp all on a single run of 4 gauge wire.......upgrade to some 0 gauge id bet if the lights dim it aint much.....and im suprised you havent popped that 100 amp fuse....or melted the 4 gauge.....if you do the 40.1 which in my testing did 4500 watts...make a couple runs of 0 gauge front to back dont mess with the 4 gauge that amp WILL HATE YOU FOR IT.........

20.1 is rated at 1800. I turned the sundown up half way, maybe less so it should be in the same range for watts. I stick within my alts limits with fuses. Just because an amp calls for a 200a fuse im not going to put a 200a fuse in. When i get the 40.1 ill have everything done in 1/0 on a 250a alt with a couple deka's. No worries.

The 20.1 is very under-rated. It'll easily do 2k+watts on 12v. Just because you had the gain set @ 1/2 way doesn't mean the amps were putting out anywhere near the same power. That's just a silly statement and this was a silly comparison. Get a dmm and a clamp put on the two then try that comparison again.

i had a sundown3k on 2 2400's and stock alt resting voltage was 14.3 and it never dipped below 13.5 for long plays very solid amp without a dought more then 3k watts i had a VFL400.1 and rockford 3k and the sundown was louder but the rockford was close but much more of a current hog oh ya just another lil side note stock alt voltage dropped to 13.5 with a EA 300a voltage dropped to 11.1 lol
